11-Sep-00

Princeton Graphic SystemsÆ introduces the HTX-series AR3.6HTX, AR3.2HTX and AR2.7HTX 4:3 multimedia displays. These displays support multiple NTSC video sources including, component video, S-Video and composite formats. DTV/HDTV-ready, the HTX-series support 480p, 540p, 1080i and 720p formats in native modes in either of two RGBHV inputs or a wideband/progressive component input. The HTX-series support VGA, SVGA and XGA graphics from PC and MacintoshÆ computer sources. The displays are scheduled to begin shipping in September 2000 with suggested list prices of $3,499.00 for the (36-inch viewable) AR3.6HTX, $2,499.00 for the (32-inch viewable) AR3.2HTX and $1,799.00 for the (27-inch viewable) AR2.7HTX. ""Home entertainment now includes computer-based progressive-scan DVD playback, surfing and downloads from the internet, playing video and computer games, PCTV, standard and high definition television,"" said William Wang, President and Chief Executive Officer of Princeton Graphic Systems. "" With these new displays our customers can enjoy all of these, in their best light, at affordable prices."" All HTX-series displays feature a built-in line doubler. With an auto-synchronizing horizontal scanning frequency of 30-52kHz, and vertical frequencies from 50-120 Hz, the displays are capable of displaying 720p HDTV signals in their native mode. 720p display capability is a rarity in digital-ready and HD sets because of the format's high horizontal scanning frequency of 45 kHz. Featuring multiple inputs to accommodate a variety of applications, the displays are also compatible with NTSC, PAL video and VGA (640 x 480 at 60-85Hz), SVGA (800 x 600 60-75Hz) and XGA (1024 x 768 at 60 Hz) resolutions from PC or MacintoshÆ computer sources. A built-in NTSC tuner, universal remote control with direct video input selection and audio amplifiers with built-in speakers are also included. Utilizing its built-in line doubler, the system creates a progressively displayed 480p image from standard NTSC sources such as a game console, TV, satellite, VCR and DVD player. The full bandwidth component video input can accept SDTV (480i) or HDTV signal inputs from a HDTV set-top box, DSS receiver or progressive DVD player. The displays also allow users and installers to control horizontal and vertical size and position, pincushion, rotation, trapezoid, bow and parallelogram. Control of vertical and horizontal picture size and position allows user to adjust overscan/underscan for individual preference. Furthermore, individual control of Red, Green and Blue drives are provided to allow for accurate color calibration. Rear panel connections include one 480i/wideband/progressive component video input (Y-Pb-Pr) with left/right audio on RCA, one composite input with left/right audio on RCA, one S-Video input on mini-DIN with left/right audio on RCA, one F-connector for CATV or antenna RF input, one RGB input (RGBHV) on a 15-pin VGA connector with mini-jack audio and one RGB output (RGBHV) on a 15-pin VGA connector with left/right audio on RCA. The front panel also allows convenient source input from a laptop computer via one RGB input (RGBHV) on a 15-pin VGA connector with left/right audio on RCA. These HTX-series displays offer a limited on-site warranty of one year on parts, CRT and labor. At 223, 135 and 104lbs., the AR3.6HTX, AR3.2HTX and AR2.7HTX will accommodate most installations with enclosures measuring 35.6 (W) x 29.5 (H) x 29.375 (D), 32.5 (W) x 26.5 (H) x 22.25 (D) and 28 (W) x 23.125 (H) x 20 (D), respectively. The new lineup, which will be available in late September 2000, will be exclusively sold by specialist retailers and custom electronics installers.
