AES Introduces Innovative Esprit Dcor Custom Installation Speaker System

Audio Electronic Systems (AES) announces the Esprit Dcor, a three-piece system consisting of left and right full range drivers, designed specifically to fit into a standard dual-gang electrical box or plaster ring. The system woofer is a 7-inch dual voice coil, shallow-basket design that is concealed by a traditional forced-air floor vent or a return air vent for in-wall installations. The sound is claimed to rival traditional speakers but without the cabinet.ApplicationsThe speaker fits anywhere a traditional electrical outlet or wall switch would be fitted. They can be placed high on the wall at switch height or low on the wall at outlet height. They are said to be idea for locations where ""a near-field monitor with high definition playback is desired and stealth is required."" All of the drivers are water-resistant. AES also proclaims that ""Esprit Dcor's most outstanding feature is its HWAF (High Wife Acceptance Factor)!""Esprit Dcor is shipping this month (September 2000). The manufacurerís suggested retail price of the Esprit Dcor Micro Modules is $100 each and the Mini Sub is $150, with the three-piece system price at $350.
