Butterworth, Staats To Dolby As Directors Of Tech Marketing

Dolby Laboratories has hired Brent Butterworth as Director, Consumer Technology Marketing, and has also promoted Dennis Staats to Director, Computer & Games Technology Marketing, both for its Consumer Division, effective immediately. In their new positions, Butterworth and Staats will respond to and help nurture the growth in the use of Dolby Digital in both the consumer and computer markets. Both Technology Marketing Directors will report directly to Richard Hockenbrock, General Manager, Licensing Services, Consumer Division. Mr. Hockenbrock said, ""Brentís vast experience in the consumer electronics space combined with Dennisís invaluable knowledge of Dolby technologies and operations creates a winning team for us in technical marketing. Weíre excited to benefit from Brentís expertise and equally pleased to promote Dennis to this well-deserved position."" Mr. Butterworth will lead Dolbyís efforts to influence expansion in the consumer and broadcast markets. Most recently, he served as Editor-in-Chief of etown.com, the wordís largest consumer electronics Web site. Before that, he was Editorial Director of Home Theater magazine for four years, head of the team responsible for making that publication the leader in its industry. Prior to that, Mr. Butterworth worked for publications including Video, Spin, Windows Sources, and other magazines. Mr. Staats will work closely with Dolbyís Games Initiative Group to promote Dolby technologies into new game and computer platforms. He has been with Dolby for more than 15 years, most recently as Manager, Technical Marketing, which included trade show promotions, customer relations, and spokesperson duties. Mr. Staats has also held several other positions at Dolby, including Software Licensing Manager and Tape Duplication Manager.
