Acoustic Research unveiled its new Stature line of home theatre speakers at CEDIA EXPO 2000. The new family of five speaker models includes two towers, two smaller cabinet units and a center channel. Stature is a family with models utilizing different configurations of essentially the same drivers with the aim of maintaining a seamless sound and timbre, regardless of how the speakers are mixed and matched. In addition to the same drivers, Stature speakers share the same black ash laminate finish, slim profile and video shielding.According to Jim Gilbride, AR's Vice President of Sales, ""Stature is for home theatre lovers at virtually every level. The line is truly intended to be able to grow as a home and family, tastes and needs, as well as income and affordability."" S50 Tower: The Acoustic Research Stature S50 is a three-way bass reflex tower standing more than 46 inches tall and 8 inches wide. Its black ash laminate bass reflex cabinet encloses three 6.5-inch coated cellulose cone drivers and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter. Rubber-tipped metal ""feet"" elevate the speaker from the floor or carpet. The S50's frequency response reaches down to 24Hz. The Acoustic Research Stature S50 is magnetically shielded and has a suggested retail price of $400 each.S40 Tower: Designed for smaller rooms, the Stature S40 is a two-way bass reflex design. Its 39.5-inch high black ash laminate cabinet encloses two 6.5-inch coated cellulose cone drivers, one placed above and the other below the 1-inch silk dome tweeter. The S40 delivers frequency response down to 26Hz. Again, rubber-tipped feet elevate the cabinet off the floor or carpet, and magnetic shielding is featured. The Acoustic Research Stature S40 has a suggested retail price of $300 each.S20: The AR Stature S20 takes the same driver components used in the tower models and places them in a compact cabinet for front or rear satellite speakers. The Stature S20 is a two-way bass reflex system utilizing a single 6.5-inch coated cellulose cone driver and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter. The black ash laminate cabinet measures 15 inches high and 8 inches wide. The S20 provides a full frequency range and is accurate down to 45Hz. The Acoustic Research Stature S20 is magnetically shielded and has a suggested retail price of $300 per pair.S10: For rooms that will not accommodate the S20, or where they would be visually obtrusive, AR has developed the Stature S10. A small speaker - 13.6 (H) x 8 (W) x 10.72 (D) inches - the S10 provides big and accurate sound. Like the S20, this model is a two-way bass reflex system, however, to save space, it a 5.25-inch coated cellulose driver and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter. Like its larger siblings, the S10 is finished in black ash laminate. The Stature S10 has frequency response down to 50Hz. The Acoustic Research S10 satellite speaker system has a suggested retail price of $240. SC2: Since up to 85 percent of a movie's soundtrack comes through the center channel, to deliver top performance, a home theatre speaker system must have an excellent center channel speaker. The two-way SC2 provides the Stature ensemble the kind of sonic anchor needed. The SC2 matches the sound of the other Stature models to deliver a seamless theatrical sound field. The horizontal driver array, comprising dual 5.25-inch coated cellulose drivers and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter, is housed in a black ash laminate cabinet. The Acoustic Research SC2 has a suggested retail price of $200 each. For further information, visit www.acoustic-research.com.Category: Speaker Systems
