Christie, Inc. has announced the introduction of the Digital Reference console, engineered to be compatible with both film and digital cinema projectors. The new Digital Reference console is an ideal solution for exhibitors currently using film projectors who anticipate converting to digital projection in the future. The new Christie Digital Reference console offers an extremely flexible light source, an improved cooling system with noise-free blowers, increased internal space and an improved power supply to be compatible with digital presentations. The digital console converts effortlessly from film to digital projection, simply requiring the installation of a digital projector head and a new reflector. A precision sliding optical bench allows for a more accurate setting of optical working distance for both film and digital projection and maximizes the efficiency of light collection. The console accommodates reflectors up to 15-inches in diameter with 4-inches of travel. The console's new thyristor-controlled, fully regulated xenon power supply features extremely low ripple, continually adjustable (remote-able) output current, forced-air cooling with standby current mode. The overall design results in a very reliable and ""clean"" DC power source for use with the DLP Cinemaô light engine and excellent long-term xenon lamp life. The Digital Reference console is available in power ranges from 1-3 and 4-7 kilowatts. The Digital Reference console features quiet operation blowers and zero vibration from the console's dual-outlet plenum blower systems. The single-blower cooling system runs at 50dBA, providing precise cooling to both ends of the lamp, which extends the life of the lamp.A full 14 RU's of internal rack space (7 RU more than the standard Reference console) allows more internal space for controls, lighting and sound electronics, and up to ten panel mount circuit breakers (four more than the standard Reference console) provide for more convenient power distribution and reduced installation costs.""Christie has invested heavily into the development of digital projection and we are committed to its success. We developed the Digital Reference console to assist exhibitors in taking the first step toward the digital revolution. Field tested and proven for over 1.5 years in real world trials, the Digital Reference console incorporates many of the features in our well-respected Reference console when used with film, and can convert to digital projection easily,"" comments Jack Kline, president of Christie, Inc.
