ASC Adds Cable/Pay TV Movie Category To Awards Competition

2-Nov-00

The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) has divided telefilms produced for network television and basic cable/pay television into separate categories in its annual Outstanding Achievement Awards competition. Both categories include miniseries, pilots and movies-of-the-week. ASC also presents an Outstanding Achievement Award for episodic television programming. Eligible films in all three categories must air during the year 2000. The deadline for submissions is January 3, 2001. ""We are seeing extraordinary work produced for both network television and basic cable or pay TV that deserves to be recognized,"" says ASC President Victor J. Kemper. ""Our goal is to acknowledge and inspire the pursuit of excellence in both of these important categories."" Up to five films will be nominated in each category by peers in the ASC. Presentations will be made at the 15th Annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards dinner at the Century Plaza Hotel on February 18, 2001. For information regarding rules for entry, visit the ASC Web site at www.cinematographer.com, or contact Patty Armacost at 323 969 4333.
