Philips introduces the worldís first multichannel Super Audio CD (SACD) player, the SACD1000. This SACD player delivers multichannel as well as stereo sound, and includes DVD-Video playback. The product has a stylish aluminum design, and will be available at a price point of around 2000 euros.SACD offers ultra-high quality sound and captures the emotion of the performance like no other sound carrier can. With its increased capacity, multichannel SACD adds an extra dimension to the sound experience, and more creativity to the artist. Thanks to six discrete full-bandwidth channels, the music is reproduced with a highly accurate and focused soundstage. It places the listener at the heart of an acoustic space, as if he/she were in the audience. The Philips SACD1000 is optimized to deliver the best sound quality. The entire SACD functionality is encapsulated in one single integrated circuit, and Marantzí heritage in high-end audio has been used in the development of the DAC (digital-to-analog converter) board. To guarantee the best possible audio and video quality, the SACD1000 features two separate audio and video boards. Both of these boards are independently powered by their own power supply unit. Annoying interference has been limited to an absolute minimum, thanks to the linear torroidal transformer power supply.Apart from Super Audio CD, Philipsí SACD1000 can play back DVD-Video, Video CD, audio CD, CD-R and CD-RW.
