Digital Imaging And Wadia Combine Assets Leading To The Reemergence Of Wadia Products

12-Dec-00

Audio Video Research, Inc. announces the return to the marketplace of the Wadia brand and Wadia products, including the first two models in a new line of CD players featuring Wadia's patented Swift Currentô sonic enhancement technology. Audio Video Research, launched December 1, 2000, was created as a result of a combination of the assets of Digital Imaging Corp. and Wadia Digital Corp., a leading manufacturer of high-end digital audio products. Audio Video Research (AVR) anticipates that the union of these two companies, with Wadia now a division of AVR, will position Audio Video Research as a leader in digital processing technologies for both audio and video. ""We're very pleased to be in a position to move forward with Audio Video Research and to be able to reintroduce Wadia products to the marketplace and to the consumers who have loyally waited for our return,"" said Jim Anderson, AVR President and CEO. ""We feel especially fortunate to have been able to continue a working relationship with employees from Wadia Digital, including key engineering, sales and marketing staff."" Earlier this year, Wadia Digital ceased operations due to its inability to repay a note to a secured lender. Its reemergence as a division of Audio Video Research will permit Wadia to continue to design and manufacture the finest digital source components in the industry. To achieve this, AVR will operate a world-class design and manufacturing operation housed in a new facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In addition to new CD players, Wadia will continue to refine its highly regarded decoding computers for top audio performance, and to expand its offerings in 2001 to include a multichannel decoding computer that addresses both audio and video signal processing needs, as well as a DVD player, among other anticipated new products. Audio Video Research will harness Wadia's traditional strengths in research and development to develop and manufacture products appropriate for both the international and domestic markets. Equally important, AVR will bring new focus to the Wadia brand, devoting significant resources to ensuring Wadia products are properly marketed and promoted. Wadia dealers and consumers will be informed and educated about Wadia products' top-level performance, innovations, capabilities and upgradability. Founded by Jim Anderson, Digital Imaging Corp. brings to AVR two decades of experience in developing high-performance digital imaging technology. It holds significant patents for scalable, massively parallel digital video processing technology. In addition, a veteran Digital Imaging engineering team, with years of digital video expertise, will join with the Wadia design team. Audio Video Research, with the creative participation of Digital Imaging's experts, will continue the Wadia tradition of being a leader in the development of new digital technologies for the consumer home entertainment industry. Wadia's newest products include the Wadia 861 and Wadia 831 CD players, which are the first CD players to incorporate the company's patented Swift Current integrated circuit. Introduced last year in the Wadia PowerDAC digital amplifier, Swift Current technology performs sonically critical current-to-voltage conversion with no negative feedback, resulting in demonstrably superior sound quality. Also new from Wadia is an upgraded edition of its highly regarded 27ix Decoding Computer, featuring a powerful new software package for extracting the subtle musical details that enhance the emotional impact of recorded music. Audio Video Research will exhibit these and other outstanding Wadia products in suite 2607, Alexis Park Resort, at the 2001 International CES. Staff will be on hand to discuss their exciting new vision for Wadia and AVR. For more information, visit www.wadia.com.
