Three-Five Systems And InFocus Sign Joint Development Agreement For New Microdisplay System

Companies Expecting To Develop An XGA Microdisplay Offering Low-Cost Projection

Three-Five Systems, Inc. announced the signing of an additional development agreement with InFocus Corporation to work together on the development of an LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) XGA microdisplay. The technology will be used as the platform for a new line of InFocus front projection digital projectors. Harker, Co-Chairman, President and CEO of InFocus Corporation. This new microdisplay will be one of the smallest displays available with XGA resolution (almost 800,000 pixels). By decreasing the display size, Three-Five is able to produce more displays from one silicon wafer allowing for a more cost effective display solution for the customer. Stanford Resourcesí 1999 ""Projection Displays Market Technology & Trends"" annual display industry report notes that the front projection market will undergo very strong unit growth throughout the next six years. During this time frame, front LCD and front reflective technologies together will grow at a compound annual rate of 25 percent, from 784,464 units in 1999 to almost 2.5 million units in 2005. Three-Five and InFocus have set a rapid development schedule and anticipate full production sometime in the second half of 2001.
