At CES 2001, Monitor Audio will introduce the new Gold Reference Series. This series is slated to replace the Studio Series in price and performance. There will be five new models including one bookshelf, two towers, a center channel and a subwoofer. The Gold Reference Series will be priced from $1395 to $5495. New technological features include: - RSTTM (Rigid Surface Technology) woofers - the improved C-CAM cone material has small impressions in the cone surface making the cone even more rigid than the Studio Series. This produces a driver that in no way breaks up in its working range. - Puresoundô crossover technology is used in conjunction with the new RST drivers. These crossovers use no capacitors in the midrange filters, allowing the mid-band section to have a wider frequency window, stunning clarity and purity across the audio spectrum. In order to take advantage of the Puresound technology, the drivers must be matched perfectly in output, impedance and phase coherency. Since Monitor Audio designs and manufactures their own drivers to exacting standards, this type of accurate matching is possible. Cabinet construction, as always, is second to none. Each handcrafted cabinet is constructed from 22mm-thick MDF incorporating perfectly mirror matched veneers. The Gold Reference cabinets have multiple internal bracing at critical resonance nodes which are differentially tuned to eliminate flexing and audible cabinet artifacts. The Gold Reference Series brings a new level of performance to the Monitor Audio line and is expected to be the most respected line in their 30-year history. Availability is immediate.
