The Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) will honor actor Ashton Kutcher with its 2001 ""Rising Star Of The Year"" Award at its 20th Annual VSDA Convention featuring the Home Entertainment Expo and DVD Festival 2001. The convention will be held January 7- 9, 2001 at the Sands Expo Center/Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The convention includes a full Education First! day of seminars on Saturday, January 6. The Rising Star Of The Year Award will be presented to Mr. Kutcher during the opening General Session on Sunday morning, January 7 at the Sands Expo Center/Venetian Hotel from 10-11:30am. The announcement was made today by Bo Andersen, President of the Video Software Dealers Association. Ashton Kutcherís most recent performances include his starring role as Jesse in the current theatrical release of ""Dude, Whereís My Car?"" (Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, 2000), and as Michael Kelso in the hit FOX television series ""That 70ís Show"" (1998-current). Kutcher also had roles in two theatrical films this year including ""Reindeer Games"" (playing a college kid) and as Jim Morrison in ""Down To You."" He will also star in next yearís highly anticipated theatrical release of ""Texas Rangers."" In 1999 Kutcher appeared in ""Coming Soon."" Prior to landing his first acting role on ""That 70ís Show,"" Kutcher had been pursuing a major in biochemical engineering at the University of Iowa before leaving to pursue modeling. He won the Fresh Faces Of Iowa modeling contest in 1997, sparking a modeling career in New York. Acting soon followed. Ashton will be joined by actor Kevin Bacon who is receiving VSDAís ""Video Man Of The Year"" Award.
