NxtWave Communications Inc. (nxtwavecomm.com), a developer of broadband communications integrated circuits (ICs), continues to define and shape the growing digital television market with the recent release of a pair of breakthrough IC products designed for use in digital television applications throughout the world. While television industry members and regulators have discussed and debated different broadcast standards for digital television, NxtWave engineers have developed products designed to work with both the ATSC and the DVB-T standards. NxtWave's NXT2002, a second generation VSB/QAM receiver chip for ATSC markets which include the United States, Canada, Taiwan and Korea, was recently unveiled. The product offers superior reception performance in the presence of multipath, phase and impulse noise and adjacent and co-channel interference in both terrestrial and cable environments. The NXT6000, the industry's most advanced COFDM demodulator chip, provides superior performance and efficiency, and offers consolidated features that effectively eliminate the need for additional external components. The NXT6000 supports all modes of the DVB-T standard and is designed to meet the mandatory NorDig requirements for digital TV platforms in Scandinavia. ""From the beginning, NxtWave has worked to provide cutting edge receiving solutions for digital TV that span all the markets. They were the first with a ëcomboí 8-VSB/QAM product,"" said Gerry Kaufhold, Principal Analyst with Cahners In-Stat Group. ""The introduction of the NXT2002 and NXT6000 will help consumer electronics manufacturers achieve winning performance in products destined for any DTV marketplace."" Both product lines are generating strong interest among manufacturers of digital televisions, PCs and digital set-top boxes. Company officials recently announced several key partnership agreements with leading international firms including Alps, EchoStar, Hauppauge, Konka and Samsung. ""The growth of digital television is a global phenomenon,"" points out Matt Miller, President and CEO of NxtWave Communications. ""We are proud of the pioneering work we have done in validating the power of this technology. We have developed product lines that address the critical needs of all DTV industry standards. As a result, consumers will be able to enjoy the full benefit of digital broadcast television."" For more information about NxtWave Communications Inc., visit www.nxtwavecomm.com.
