Hitachi Introduces 42-Inch Plasma HDTV Monitor For Consumer Applications During CES

Also Ships DLPô-Based Rear Projection Television To Retailers

Hitachi America, Ltd., Home Electronics Division announced its first UltraVision Digitalô Plasma HDTV Monitor for consumer applications. The CMP4120HDUS is the Home Electronics Division's first product from Hitachi's investment in the industry's largest and most advanced plasma production facility, FHP Ltd. (Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display Ltd.). FHP was established in April 1999 as a joint venture that combined the plasma divisions of Hitachi, Ltd. and Fujitsu Limited. The new CMP4120HDUS will be introduced during the 2001 International CES on January 6-9, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hitachi will showcase the HDTV monitor and its complete product line at the Aladdin Hotel (Grand Ballrooms 2 and 3) during the show. Hitachi's CMP4120HDUS is a high performance 42-inch 16:9 plasma HDTV monitor featuring 1024 x 1024 (1,048,576 total pixels) resolution. With an impressive brightness specification of 600cd/m2 (300cd/m2 with front filter), the unit is an ideal choice for critical viewing home theatre environments. The CMP4120HDUS has an equally remarkable contrast ratio of 700:1, making for outstanding performance in high ambient light conditions. The CMP4120HDUS HDTV monitor is equipped to accommodate a wide range of input types. Compatible video formats include 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i. The CMP4120HDUS can display computer standards including VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA (scaled) and UXGA (scaled). The flexible input configuration of the CMP4120HDUS includes two RGB, one auto detecting 480i/480p/720p/1080i component video input, one S-Video input and one composite video input. Convenience features of the CMP4120HDUS include three-color temperature presets - 6500K, 7600K and 9300K, and three picture format options to accommodate different aspect ratio sources - Normal, Full, and Zoom.
