Support for THXÆ from major consumer electronics brands continues to grow and expand, with Harman Kardon and Kenwood adding new THX-certified products at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and new licensee JVC introducing its first THX-certified product. The introductions from the three manufacturers include both THX Ultra and Select receivers, and follow a wave of THX-certified product introductions over the last three months in every product category and from a wide range of THX licensees. ""The enormous success of DVD clearly shows that people are seeking higher quality performance in home entertainment,"" said Monica L. Dashwood, General Manager, Lucasfilm THX. ""Home theatre product manufacturers are responding to this trend by expanding their THX lineup to assure consumers that they are buying best-in-class audio and video performance."" Among the THX Ultra receivers debuting at CES is the first THX-certified model from new licensee JVC - the RX-DP10V with THX Surround EXô. ""Our decision to offer THX certified products reflects our commitment to offer home theatre consumers the best performance value possible,"" said Karl Bearnarth, Vice President, JVC Audio Division. ""It allows us to offer a genuine benefit, while at the same time it assures consumers that they're buying a brand that's committed to performance excellence."" Another new THX Ultra receiver at CES is the Harman Kardon AVR 8000, a new flagship model with THX Surround EX. ""Our goal is to build top-quality products that offer superior performance, and the phenomenal technical approach at THX and the company's stringent design and testing criteria allow us to do that,"" said Rick Jordan, Harman Kardon Product Manager. New from Kenwood comes the THX Select-certified VR-510, an A/V receiver with DolbyÆ Digital and DTSÆ Digital Surroundô decoding. Kenwood also announced plans to introduce THX Ultra receivers later this year. These new announcements follow a host of THX-certified product introductions during 2000's fourth quarter. These included new A/V receivers, controllers, amplifiers, DVD players and speakers. The majority of the new controllers and receivers feature THX Surround EX for decoding a back surround channel in a film soundtrack. The recent introductions included products from B&K, Denon, Integra, JBL Synthesis, Lexicon, Marantz, Mark Levinson, Mordaunt-Short, NAD, Onkyo, Pioneer Elite, Sonance and TAG McLaren.
