Vidikron of America, the world leader in high performance video projectors and support components, showcased its BRS 3800 and BRS 2800 Broadcast Reference Scalers, two new digital video signal processors designed especially for custom installation professionals, at the 2001 International Consumer Electronics Show.State-of-the-art video processing components, Vidikronís new Broadcast Reference Series scalers combine sophisticated HDTV-ready circuitry with features designed to make them easy to integrate into todayís home theatre systems and to dramatically improve the quality of projected images. BRS 3800 Broadcast Reference ScalerThe NTSC and PAL-compatible BRS 3800 is designed for Vidikronís Vision Series of HDTV CRT projectors, and features a built-in HDTV transcoder. Signal output at 72Hz allows exact frame matching with film sources and eliminates motion jitter, while output at 60Hz allows exact frame matching with video sources. The BRS 3800ís output capabilities include 1080p at 72Hz, 1080p at 60Hz, 720p at 75Hz, 720p at 72Hz, 720p at 60Hz, 1080i at 75Hz and 1080i at 60Hz, Inputs include Y/C (S-Video), Component (Y/Cb/Cr), 480p (progressive DVD, DTV tuner) and HDTV. Additional key features include four memories for easy setup, built-in aspect ratio control, digital detection of film or video sources, motion sensing interpolation to increase vertical resolution, horizontal and vertical image enhancers and separate controls to allow exact horizontal and vertical positioning. An RS-232 port is included for computer-based remote control. BRS 2800 Broadcast Reference ScalerAlso NTSC- and PAL-compatible, the BRS 2800 shares many of the image-enhancing capabilities of the BRS 3800. Its six-output design allows direct pixel matching with plasma, D-ILAô, DLPô and LCD displays, enabling it to produce seamless, pristine images perfectly optimized for individual projectors. Of course, the BRS 2800 can also be used with CRT projectors. The scalerís six output frequencies include SXGA (1280 x 1024), XGA (1024 x 768), SVGA (800 x 600), VGA (640 x 480), 625p and 525p. Inputs include Y/C (S-Video) and Component (Y/Cb/Cr).Additional key features include four memories for easy set up, built-in aspect ratio control, digital detection of film or video sources, motion sensing interpolation to increase vertical resolution and separate controls to allow exact horizontal and vertical positioning. An RS-232 port is included for computer-based remote control. Both Broadcast Reference Series scalers are available in a black finish, and include a rack mount faceplate. Dimensions for both are 3 7/8 x 18 7/8 x 20 inches (HWD), and both weigh 9.9 lbs.The BRS 3800 and BRS 2800 Broadcast Reference Scalers are available now from Vidikron dealers at suggested prices of $13,995 and $8,995, respectively. For additional information about Vidikron of America, visit www.vidikron.com.
