EchoStar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH, DISHP) unveiled at the 2001 International Consumer Electronics Show the new DISH Networkô PRO 501 satellite television receiver that features approximately 30 hours of digital video recording and other personal television services, providing viewers greater control over their TV viewing experience. The new DISH Network PRO series of satellite TV receivers will offer improved performance, while requiring less installation hardware. The DISH Network PRO 501 satellite TV system will be available this February for only $299 MSRP. Also, in conjunction with the launch of this new product, DISH Network will offer for a limited time only free personal television services when DISH Network Pro 501 is purchased with qualifying programming. The innovative DISH Network PRO 501 contains a 40GB hard drive for recording approximately 30 hours of all-digital DISH Network satellite television programming. Personal television services include recording features, live TV pause, four fast-forward speeds and four fast-reverse speeds, skip forward 30 seconds and skip backward 10 seconds, and single-touch recording on the remote. DISH Network Pro 501 also offers optical digital output for DolbyÆ Digital and CD-quality audio, plus access to hundreds of channels of popular DISH Network programming, such as Discovery, ESPN, Disney and more. Other standard features include: - Enhanced event timers that program the satellite TV receiver to automatically tune to a program at a designated time or to command a VCR to record selected events. Event timers can also record programming from the hard drive to the VCR. - Increased channel storage in four favorites lists. - UHF/Infrared remote control for operating satellite receiver from distance of up to 100 feet through walls and is programmable for other components. - Separate on-screen locks for pay-per-view and adult channels, plus V-chip type technology for parental control based on channels, ratings or content. - Easy access to info button on the remote to instantly access program information, such as start time, end time and a brief description about the program. - Search channels by category, such as movies, sports, news/business, family/children, education, series/specials, music/arts or religious. - Transparent channel browse to view other program titles without changing channels. - Easy pay-per-view ordering method using remote control. - Software upgradeable via satellite. - Front panel controls, expansion ports and S-Video output.
