EchoStar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH, DISHP) unveiled at the 2001 International Consumer Electronics Show the new DISH Networkô PRO 301 satellite television receiver, the first in a series of DISH Network satellite TV receivers offering improved performance while requiring less installation hardware. DISH Network PRO 301 features faster channel navigation capabilities in a low-profile, space-saving chassis, offering superior home television performance at an affordable price. DISH Network PRO 301 satellite TV system, which includes a dish antenna, will be available to consumers for only $199 MSRP in the first quarter of 2001. DISH Network PRO 301 offers customers access to hundreds of channels of popular DISH Network programming, such as Discovery, ESPN, Disney and more, all with crisp pictures and crystal-clear, CD-quality sound, as well as interactive TV services powered by OpenTV. DISH Network Electronic Program Guide (EPG) provides interactive TV capabilities including Instant Weather, offering immediate weather conditions for nearly 1,000 U.S. cities, ski areas and national parks, as well as five-day forecasts and current weather conditions updated every hour. Designed by EchoStar, DISH Network PRO 301 features a slimmer chassis to make the most out of cabinet space while boasting a more powerful processor for faster channel navigation through the on-screen programming guide and information screens. Its two electronic program guide display options allow viewers to choose either a full screen of channel listings or a three-quarter screen of channel listings in conjunction with a quarter-screen that displays the TV channel. Other standard features include: - Enhanced event timers that program the satellite TV receiver to automatically tune to a program at a designated time for viewing or to command a VCR to record selected events. - Increased channel storage in four favorites lists. - Separate on-screen locks for pay-per-view and adult channels, plus V-chip type technology for parental control based on channels, ratings or content. - Easy access to info button on the remote to instantly access program information, such as start time, end time and a brief description about the program. - Search channels by category, such as movies, sports, news/business, family/children, education, series/specials, music/arts or religious. - One-touch pay-per-view ordering method on the remote control. - Software upgradeable via satellite. DISH Network PRO 301 system is offered with a DISH 500 satellite dish antenna, which receives signals from two different satellite positions offering access to hundreds of DISH Network satellite TV channels, including local networks from 34 U.S. cities, international programming, Spanish language packages, premium movie packages and DISH-On-Demand pay-per-view channels.
