Runcoís New Plasma Display Makes Life Brighter

New Plasma TV Produces Contrast Ratios And Black Levels Exceeding Those Of CRT

13-Feb-01

Runco International, accepted worldwide as the leader in video displays for high end home theatres, introduces the PlasmaWall PL-42cx, a new generation of plasma display with black levels and contrast ratios that exceed CRT levels. This incredible color saturation and Runcoís impressive processing performed by the VHD Controller combine to produce three-dimensional video reproduction, vibrant and realistic with excellent detail and resolution. The PlasmaWall PL-42cx has a 42-inch (diagonal) screen size and a depth of four inches, offering a design that allows for multiple mounting options including wall, ceiling, stand and custom installation applications. The PL-42cx is fully capable of reproducing most available HDTV formats (via an outboard DTV decoder), including 480p, 720p and 1080i. It also has the capability of displaying computer resolutions, ranging from VGA (640 x 480) all the way up to UXGA (1600 x 1200). Sam Runco, CEO of Runco International said, ""We are extremely thrilled with the new developments in black level performance in this model. With color purity closely matching CRT levels, we feel that this category will be a huge success for us this year. The PL-42cx is a gorgeous-looking television that produces stunning high quality images."" With an amazing contrast ratio of 1500:1, the PlasmaWall PL-42cx produces unbelievable black level dynamics to produce images with such depth and clarity that they appear three-dimensional, regardless of the source. Also, its bright image makes it suitable for all ambient light conditions, from the darkest theatres to the brightest rooms. Color purity, accuracy and control are superior to virtually any other plasma display on the market. Like all fixed-pixel devices from Runco, the PL-42cx is packaged with the VHD Controller for processing technology that upgrades regular broadcast, cable, DBS, DVD or LaserDisc sources to a progressive format for smoother, more film-like imaging. It provides an output to the PlasmaWall monitor that is matched not only pixel for pixel, but also for the most appropriate signal levels and timing specifications that the PlasmaWall display wants to receive. Additionally, the VHD Controller adjusts image aspect ratio and size of every source to the full-screen resolution of the PL-42cx display, and even provides white bars on the sides of the 4:3 aspect ratio to reduce the possibility of burning in the 4:3 image into the display. The PL-42cx has a manufacturerís suggested retail price of $15,995 and is currently available. Categories: DTV, HDTV
