Based on strong customer feedback, Zenith Electronics Corporation is taking an aggressive approach to meeting the needs of today's consumers by offering specialized universal remote controls designed for every member of the family and every room in the home. The 2001 Zenith remote control line includes 59 models, ranging from the cute little ""Klicker Jr."" for kids to advanced remotes featuring more than 1,000 pre-programmed codes, cool color combinations, glow keys, audible and big buttons, backlit menus, color-coded keypads, and learning LCD displays. One model is even designed for exclusive use with the popular PlayStation 2Æ video game system. ""The broadest family of remotes Zenith has ever offered builds on the momentum we have established, and represents the most advanced remote control line available today,"" Zenith Accessories Vice President Len Coakley said. ""We're focusing on the changing needs of today's diverse lifestyles, keeping pace with every twist and turn,"" he said. ""We've listened to our customers and designed a stylish, functional and just plain fun remote control line that we believe pushes all the right buttons with consumers."" Zenith's ergonomically-designed remote controls, originally developed to replace lost or broken remotes built over the past 20 years, are easy to program and use, require little or no setup, and have built-in code search features. When used to replace multiple remotes with a single unit, the code search scans a code library, automatically controlling hundreds of brands of TVs, VCRs, DVD players, CD players, cable and satellite boxes, and other devices. The Zenith universal remote line starts with a simple scan-only remote that controls just television sets and continues up to a universal seven-device learning remote with LCD display that teaches up to 380 functions and includes more than 1,000 preprogrammed codes. Eleven of the new handheld products feature glow keys, nine offer backlit keys, ten have extra large buttons for ease of use, and four feature audible feedback. Suggested list prices range from $5.99 to $149.99. Leading the new Zenith line-up are the Klicker Jr.Æ universal remotes in five cool translucent colors: lime, grape, strawberry, blueberry, and tangerine. Designed for fun and ease of operation with children, the Klicker Jr. offers simple scan-only TV commands. Suggested list price is $6.99. But let's not forget about the adults. Zenith designed its series of four- and five-device remotes with the new Volkswagen Beetle colors in mind. Available in eight solid colors (pistachio, black, gray, silver, yellow, red, white, and blue), the five-device units also feature backlit menus. Suggested list prices are $19.99 for the four-device units and $29.99 for the five-device units. For the millions of gamers out there, Zenith has designed a special four-device universal remote control for the PlayStation 2 video game system. This remote comes with a pass-through port controller that connects the game system and the game controller, while the remote controls the PlayStation 2, TV set, DVD player and other devices. Suggested list price is $29.99. Three top-of-the-line remote control systems provide RF (radio frequency) and infrared (IR) wireless solutions: - A wireless video sender kit that eliminates the need to wire coax cable throughout the house. The kit consists of a video transmitter, video receiver, two plug-in power supplies, connecting cables and a seven-device universal IR/RF remote control. The transmitter broadcasts up to 125 feet from the sending unit. Suggested list price is $149.99. - A universal IR/RF ""whole house"" remote system that operates seven different products, includes an IR/RF receiver, has a color coded keypad, and operates most on-screen menus. Suggested list price is $59.99. - A remote control signal sender that uses infrared remote signals that travel through walls in the home up to 100 feet from the sending unit. Ideally suited for use with satellite receivers, VCRs, cable, or any video signal. Suggested list price is $49.99. Zenith also is introducing a unique remote control device called the ""Space Commandô,"" which turns any IR remote into a whole house RF remote.
