Legendary pop guitarist Robbie McIntosh returns with a vengeance on May 8th with 'Widescreen,' the follow up to his highly acclaimed 2000 debut release 'Emotional Bends.' McIntosh and company are in rare form, delivering another stinging set of rootsy, hard hitting songs with McIntosh's raw vocals and mind bending electric guitar style front and center. Highlights include a vocal duet pairing McIntosh with his former boss Chrissie Hynde and a guest appearance by singer Paul Young.Robbie McIntosh is a living legend on the electric guitar. His playing came to international attention through his work as a member of the Paul McCartney Band and the Pretenders. His first solo offering 'Emotional Bends' was a Top 10 hit on Gavin's non-comm AAA chart (where it spent a total of 14 weeks) and earned him an appearance on the Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn as well as coverage in numerous national publications including Billboard, Guitar Player, Mojo, Dirty Linen, Acoustic Guitar, Performing Songwriter and ICE.Shetland Isles fiddling icon Aly Bain and Scottish accordionist Phil Cunningham, two of the most celebrated musicians on the Scottish traditional scene, join the Compass family of artists with the May 8th release of 'Another Gem'. Bain is a founding member of the Boys of the Lough, a group whose repertoire includes both Scottish and Irish influences. Phil was an early member of the infamous Silly Wizard at the age of sixteen, launching a prolific and diverse musical career. The duo made their first tour together in 1988, spending six days traveling through Scotland. Since then, their annual Scottish tour has expanded to a full month every September, not to mention dates spent touring internationally. They have also released two CDs, The Pearl (1996) and The Ruby (1998), both on Green Linnet Records. Cunningham, an in demand composer and performer for television, radio, film and stage, has produced albums for popular traditional artists including Dolores Keane and Altan. In 1990, he wrote the music for Bill Bryden's spectacular theater productions ""The Ship""(1990) and ""The Big Picnic""(1994). In recent years he has worked as music director/composer for various BBC Scotland series, and also wrote ""The Highlands & Islands Suite,"" an orchestral work which was performed at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Cunningham recently toured with Bonnie Raitt and Kepa Junkera.Since 1986, Bain has been working with Pelicula Films on various television series dealing with folk music in addition to touring and recording with Boys of the Lough. Bain has also recorded numerous albums with the Boys of the Lough, as well as with Hue and Cry, Eddi Reader, Fish, Richard Thompson and Runrig.
