Digital TV Leader Offers More Choices Than Ever

With the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in town this week, the hot topic is digital television - but not just for engineers and media moguls. Some of the latest high-tech DTV technologies on display are designed for the consumer market. At the new DTV Store exhibit, sponsored by the NAB, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC), the breadth of readily available consumer digital television products is significant. Leading the way in these new consumer products is Panasonic, which showcased an impressive array of its latest digital television offerings, both at its own booth and at the DTV Store. The company markets an extensive line of direct-view and rear-projection HDTV monitors - products that promise consumers enhanced picture quality today, and the readiness for the digital content of the future. Panasonic DTV product highlights include:- Tau PureFlatô direct-view and projection HDTV monitors: CT-34WX50 (34-inch diagonal) 16:9 wide screen direct-view set, and PT-47WX51 (47-inch diagonal) 16:9 rear-projection set. The company's Tau PureFlat series televisions feature a perfectly flat screen. - The PT-42PD2-P 42-inch (diagonal) 16:9 plasma display features an incredible contrast ratio of 3000:1, and a maximum brightness level of 650 cd/m2.- PT-52DL10 52-inch (diagonal) Digital Light Processing(tm) Technology-based rear-projection 16:9 HDTV monitor. This set is compatible with 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i, and displays in 1280 x 720 resolution. Using a series of micro-mirrors to create brilliant, distortion-free images, the PT-52DL10 delivers an astonishing picture with a wide viewing angle. - Sleek, elegant, 15-inch and 22-inch (diagonal screen measurement) tabletop LCD televisions that combine a brilliant, high resolution 16:9 picture and impressive stereo sound.
