Image Entertainment, Inc. a leading licensee and distributor of DVD programming in North America, today announced the June 26th street date of VH1 Storytellers: ėThe Doors, A Celebration.î The release, scheduled to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Jim Morrison's passing, includes performances by members of The Doors, Train, The Cult, Days of the New, Stone Temple Pilots and Creed.Jim Morrison's death in July 1971 sent shock waves to the four corners of the globe. In remembrance of the ""Lizard King,"" VH1 created a Storytellers program like no other, reuniting The Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore for an all-star tribute to the music that defined a generation. The program provides the stories behind the legendary songs and features guest vocals from some of today's hottest singers including ""Love Me Two Times"" (Pat Monahan/Train), ""Back Door Man"" (Ian Astbury/The Cult) ""The End"" (Travis Meeks/Days of the New), ""Break on Through"" (Scott Weiland/Stone Temple Pilots),"" and ""Roadhouse Blues"" (Scott Stapp/Creed). 30th Anniversary Morrison remembrances include Paris events by Warner International and Elektra Records, film showings, concerts and signings by Ray Manzarek and Danny Sugerman. Parisian officials expect up to fifty thousand fans will make a pilgrimage to Morrison's burial site this summer.VH1 will air the 90-minute Storytellers program the last week in June. The DVD release includes DTS and Dolby Digital soundtracks, as well as the two bonus songs not airing during the VH1 broadcast which feature Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury from the Cult performing ""Wild Child"" and members of Creed performing ""Riders on the Storm.""International video and broadcast sales will be handled by Image's jointventure partner, Aviva International, LLC.
