Sony Musicís stereo and multichannel SACD releases total more than 100 titles.ìIn remastering these albums for SACD multichannel we went back to the original multitrack masters, in many cases working with the original producers and remixers,î commented David Smith, Vice President of Engineering for Sony Music Studios. ìThe resulting discs are truly extraordinary, and have all of the nuance, warmth and resolution of the original sessions.îBilly Joelís ì52nd Streetî and ìThe Strangerî albums were remixed under the supervision of the albumsí original producer, Phil Ramone; the remix of James Taylorís ìHourglassî was supervised by Mr. Taylor and that albumís original producer and engineer, Frank Filipetti; Earth, Wind & Fireís ìGratitudeî was produced by band founder/member Maurice White; ìMusic From Titanicî was remixed for multichannel sound by its composer, James Horner; and Celine Dionís ìAll The WayÖA Decade Of Songî was remixed by the albumís original engineer, Humberto Gatica. Richard King was the engineer both for Sony Classicalís original DSD multichannel SACD recording of the reconstructed Mozart Violin and Piano Concerto and for the ìBernstein: West Side Story Suiteî recording.ìBy integrating multichannel capability with the realism and clarity of the SACD format, these releases capture the ambience and feel of a great performance,î commented Leslie C. Cohen, Vice President, Business Development for Sony Music Entertainment. ìOur initial multichannel releases comprise recordings whose sound fields lend themselves to surround sound. These releases are sure to elicit a powerful response from music lovers, and we will be releasing additional SACD multichannel titles on a regular basis.îThe SACD format represents the next generation in music reproduction, utilizing Direct Stream Digital (DSD) technology to deliver optimum sound quality.
