Kenwood Audio/Video Components Have RS-232 Ports And IR Codes Available For Custom Installation Applications

Building on the IR compatibility announced at the Custom Electronic Designers and Installers Association (CEDIA) Expo last year, Kenwood USA Corporation announced that its four new home theatre receivers, a DVD-Audio/Video mega changer, and DVD-Video mega changer, are fully compatible with the Panja Partner Program (P3) via the new RS-232 port located on each model. By cooperating during the development process, Kenwood anticipates Panjaís software will be available to custom installers on the same day that the full Kenwood Sovereign line is shipped to dealers mid-summer. The new RS-232 connection allows Panja to develop software for two-way communications between Kenwood Sovereign components and the Panja control system, enabling a higher degree of control than with IR communications alone. Requiring only a simple RS-232 to ICSP protocol interface module, the process the custom installer will have integrating Kenwood consumer products in a home automation system is virtually plug-and-play.
