Infinity Systems, Inc., announced that its ModulusÆ home theatre loudspeaker system has won a prestigious Bronze Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA) from the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). A jury of leading industrial design experts selected Infinity's Modulus system as one of 82 Bronze IDEA2001 award winners from more than 1,260 products submitted.Co-sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America and BusinessWeek magazine, the IDEA has become the world's most significant recognition of excellence in industrial design. Entries for IDEA2001 were judged based on how well they fulfilled five criteria: design innovation, benefit to the user, benefit to the client/business, ecological responsibility, and appropriate aesthetics and appeal. Winners are listed in the June 25, 2001, issue of BusinessWeek and the Modulus will also be featured in the fall issue of ìInnovation: Yearbook Of Industrial Design Excellence.î""We are honored to receive an IDEA Award for the second consecutive year,"" noted Eli Harary, Infinity Brand Manager. ""This award further validates our efforts in setting benchmarks for loudspeaker design and performance, incorporating leading-edge technologies and materials to create products with superior style and sound. Modulus exemplifies Infinity's commitment to advancing the art and science of audio, and we thank the Industrial Designers Society of America for recognizing our efforts.""The noted ID firm Ashcraft Design worked closely with Infinity to create the Modulus home theatre system. Daniel Ashcraft, the firm's President, pointed out, ""From its conception, we wanted to differentiate Modulus from conventional satellite/subwoofer home theatre systems while conveying the essence of the Infinity brand-exceptional design combined with exceptional sonic performance. Our goal in designing the Modulus system was to achieve an ideal balance of design, installation flexibility and sonic integrity.""The Modulus home theatre system includes four two-way satellite loudspeakers, featuring a 4-inch Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragmô (C.M.M.D.ô) woofer and 0.75-inch C.M.M.D. tweeter, a dedicated center channel loudspeaker (dual 4-inch C.M.M.D. woofers, 0.75-inch C.M.M.D. tweeter) and the compact Modulus subwoofer, employing a 12-inch C.M.M.D. woofer, built-in 300-watt amplifier and Infinity's exclusive Room Adaptive Bass Optimization Systemô (R.A.B.O.S.ô).Award-Winning Installation FlexibilityIn addition to the Bronze IDEA, the Modulus loudspeaker system has won two Innovations 2001 Design and Engineering Awards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). The fist Design and Engineering Award was given to the Modulus System, while the innovative and unique Modulus TV speaker-mounting bracket received the second award. The Modulus System offers far more installation flexibility than conventional satellite/subwoofer systems, thanks to the satellites' unique, integral, swiveling-mounting-bracket system, which enables them to be wall-mounted, even in a corner, or placed freestanding on a shelf. The mounting bracket can be affixed anywhere along the satellites' curved-bottom mounting surface, an ingenious arrangement that allows the satellites to be positioned facing either straight ahead or at a downward-firing angle. This arrangement provides a far wider variety of placement options than conventional satellite loudspeakers, and enables them to be positioned for best sound coverage in any mounting location. The optional, adjustable TV bracket allows the left, center-channel and right loudspeakers to be mounted directly to the bracket and placed atop any 30- to 55-inch TV, extending the left and right speakers beyond the TV screen for a wide, panoramic soundfield, and enabling all three front speakers to be installed without having to mount them on a wall or floor stand. This award-winning mounting bracket has two advantages - it provides a unique speaker-placement solution, as well as the sonic benefits gained from speaker separation, including greater imaging and a wider soundfield. The loudspeakers' exceptional sonic performance is complemented by their distinctive appearance, highlighted by gracefully curved and contoured front surfaces and matching color grilles. Infinity Modulus loudspeakers are available in a choice of platinum brushed-aluminum and charcoal brushed-aluminum finishes. The platinum finish models ""pick up"" and reflect the color of the surrounding walls to seamlessly blend with the room dÈcor. For more information about Infinity, visit www.infinitysystems.com.
