22-Jun-01

Zenith Electronics Corporation showcased its HDTV-compatible PRO1200X CRT Front Projector at the INFOCOMM International Expo 2001. The flagship of Zenithís front-projector line, the PRO1200X HDTV monitor is a high performance, feature-packed video projector designed to display crystal clear images from a wide spectrum of high resolution video sources, on screens ranging from 4.6 to 20 feet wide. The PRO1200X is ideally suited for high definition displays in high-end home theatres. Using high resolution 8-inch, liquid-coupled CRTs with electromagnetic focus and high definition, color-corrected HD215 lenses, the PRO1200X renders large-screen images with unprecedented accuracy. Aided by a built-in camera, its ProVergeô Automatic Convergence system aligns screen convergence in less than 2.5 minutes, with more accuracy than has been possible using conventional manual convergence techniques. The PRO1200Xís multi-standard video system is capable of displaying 1920 x 1080 HDTV images, and 1280 x 1024 pixels in SXGA mode. It is compatible with NTSC, PAL, and SECAM video sources, and can be set for conventional 4:3 and widescreen 16:9 aspect ratios. Fully supporting its high level of performance, the projector is designed to be configured for either front or rear operation, and mounted on the floor or on the ceiling (with an optional ceiling mount). Outstanding image quality is enhanced by a host of special features, including contrast modulation to improve brightness and color uniformity, an adaptive digital comb filter, a three-mode CRT drive designed to extend the life of the tubes, on-screen menus in English, French, German or Spanish, adjustable color temperatures, 32 frequency-related memory banks, and linear digital interpolation. The PRO1200X comes with an IR remote control that doubles as an installation remote, a process assisted by such installer-friendly features as on-screen setup guides, automatic adjustment storage, the ability to set parameters to mid positions, a built-in projection distance calculator, and Seagull correction to improve corner geometry. The versatile connection panel includes S-Video and composite video inputs, an RGB analog input on a D9 connector, five BNC connectors for RGB or component video input, and an RS232 data communication port. The RGB and component inputs include automatic sync detection and polarity. The PRO1200X is available now from Zenith dealers at a suggested price of $29,995.
