Marantz America has installed a number of its high performance home entertainment components as part of the ""Designing The Millennium Home"" custom home theatre display, which recently opened at the New York Design Center in Manhattan. Located in the showroom of premier design firm Cliff Young Ltd., the striking high tech installation features the finest in audio and video equipment, including a Marantz PD4292D plasma monitor, VP8100 DLPô projector, SR-14EX receiver, VC8100 and DV7100 DVD players, MV880 VCR, and SM-17SA power amplifier. Erwin van der Putten, Marantz America Director of Marketing pointed out, ""The 'Designing The Millennium Home' exhibit exemplifies everything Marantz stands for in home entertainment - the ideal blend of ultimate audio and video performance, along with attractive design that blends perfectly into the living environment."" The theatre features all-custom cabinetry, walls, and furnishings in lightly hued, figured anigre wood, hand-selected and book-matched throughout. Rich, deep blue subtly patterned carpeting, theatre-seating recliners upholstered in Toray Ultrasuede, nickel-plated metal accents, Italian glassware, and other finishing touches complement the wood. A complete bar with a custom, curved glass top surface and Sub Zero wine storage system is located to the side at the theatre and entirely integrated within the main installation. The exhibit is built around a Marantz PD4292D 42-inch plasma display monitor inset into the main wall; in addition, a VP8100 DLP projector and projection screen can drop down on motorized mountings for super-large-screen viewing. These video display devices are supplemented by several small TV monitors located above the plasma monitor and on a wall behind the bar, which can display different TV channels independently. The installation also features a complete high-end multichannel surround sound loudspeaker system, custom lighting, and additional refinements. Jerry Cmehil, Head Designer for Cliff Young Ltd., noted, ""Building a home theatre goes far beyond the utilizing the best audio and video components. The challenge is to create a total environment where all the ingredients complement one another, with a chic, contemporary design that fits the client's personality while delivering the finest viewing and listening experience."" Leslie Young, Vice President of Design added, ""Home theatre is the fastest-growing segment of the home furnishings business, as more and more consumers desire to integrate home entertainment into their living environment in an elegant and artful manner.""
