Marantz announced the introduction of its PD6120D 61-inch widescreen plasma display monitor, the largest screen size plasma monitor in the world for home theatre. The new PD6120D brings movies and favorite TV shows to life as never before, thanks to its vast picture size, advanced image technologies, and wealth of operational and convenience features that make it ideal for high-end home theatres and custom installations. Bigger And Better Plasma Display Performance Like all Marantz plasma display monitors, the PD6120D incorporates a host of leading-edge video technologies for extraordinary picture performance. The PD6120D utilizes a 1365 x 768 pixel array (with 0.987 x 0.987 pixel pitch) to display video images of exceptional sharpness, with greater than 16 million-color resolution. The PD6120D delivers high 550cd/m2 peak brightness and a 700:1 contrast ratio, for superlative image quality even in brightly lit rooms. The PD6120D is compatible with the widest variety of digital and analog video display devices. The monitor is DTV-ready and can display a native 480p or 720p progressive scan image from a DVD-Video player, HDTV set-top box, or computer, 1080i HDTV images from an HDTV set-top box or other HDTV sources, or an up-converted image from any NTSC source. The PD6120D can also display images from a computer up to UXGA resolution, and automatically scales or up-converts video sources as necessary. Total Display Versatility For maximum display versatility, the Marantz PD6120D includes HD component video, component video, S-Video and composite video connections, as well as one digital and two analog RGB inputs. The PD6120D is compatible with NTSC, PAL, and SECAM formats. The monitor provides a choice of aspect ratio modes for viewing standard 4:3 format and 16:9 widescreen program material with the highest-possible image quality. The PD6120D offers a broad range of picture adjustments, including an automatic or manual color temperature control that enables the viewer to adjust the monitor to three preset color temperatures including the NTSC standard 6500 degrees, or choose a customized setting. All functions are easily accessible via the PD6120D's intuitive multi-language on-screen menu and remote control. The set also features front-panel buttons for the most-used functions such as power on/off, input select, volume, and other adjustments. Although it's the largest plasma display monitor ever created, the unit is housed in a chassis that is 53.2 wide by 29.9 high by just 4.5 inches deep. Its ultra-slim profile provides designers, decorators, and homeowners with a wealth of mounting options in creating stylish, sophisticated home theatres that complement the most refined living environments, and its elegant dark silver metallic finish blends beautifully into any home decor. The Marantz PD6120D 61-inch widescreen plasma display monitor carries a suggested retail price of $29,000 and will be shipping August 2001.
