Philips is to follow up the award-winning successes of its first two 42-inch flat TV sets by introducing, for the first time, a 32-inch (82 cm) model. Measuring just 9 cm deep, the super-slim 32PF9964 represents the very latest in flat TV gas plasma television technology, combining a state-of-the-art high definition gas plasma display panel with the acclaimed Philips TV picture enhancement technologies, Digital Natural Motion, Digital Crystal Clear, and Active Control. Housed in a striking metallic-finish frame, the new Flat TV can - like its predecessors - be hung on a wall like a painting. Consumers can also choose optional frame colors, as well as purchasing a unique table-top stand for them to make use of existing TV furniture. Philipsí new Flat TV offers a package of picture enhancement technologies. The setís 32-inch widescreen display offers flicker-free pictures, high contrast, and brilliant, realistic colors. The wide, 160-degree viewing angle enables the picture to be seen clearly and with a constant quality and brightness from virtually anywhere in the room. Furthermore, it also delivers excellent pictures in almost any kind of ambient light conditions, including daylight. The completely flat screen eliminates any display distortion, with perfect picture geometry and freedom from problems such as electromagnetic distortion, convergence, and alignment. Philipsí Digital Natural Motion ensures perfect natural movement of objects in a large television screen by eliminating the juddering sometimes seen in such sets. Digital Natural Motion advanced chip technology is designed to predict the path of an object in motion, and compensate for it. The end result is crisp, razor-sharp smooth movement reproduction of moving objects on-screen, even in rapid motion. Digital Crystal Clear, another Philips innovation, significantly improves picture quality with a combination of technologies. These include Dynamic Contrast, which analyzes pictures 25 times a second to constantly maintain optimum contrast, a comb filter, which eliminates disturbing cross-color effects, Luminance Transient Improvement, ensuring even clearer brightness transitions, and color enhancement to give brilliant, faithful colour reproduction of all kinds of pictures. To accommodate the various sources a modern TV has to deal with - including broadcast TV, DVD and games platforms - the new Philips 32-inch Flat TV features Active Control. Active Control analyzes incoming pictures and then automatically makes any necessary adjustments to sharpness, contrast, color, and picture noise levels to maintain optimum picture quality. The set is supplied with an accompanying ìe-boxî - the brains of the TV which also contains all system connections for the set and means only one cable is needed to display itself. Furthermore, the receiver box has also been designed to harmoniously complement Philipsí range of home cinema separate components. If not racked with other components, the e-box can be discreetly located without the need to be in line-of-sight of the remote control, as an infrared sensor on the display panel receives instructions from the handset. With the CinemaLink feature, this is even valid for the other Philips HomeCinema peripherals. As well as being the perfect centerpiece of a home cinema system, the 32-inch Flat TV contains an integrated stereo audio system, enabling the set to operate as a standalone TV without requiring connection to a separate amplifier system. The integrated audio system can also be used as a center channel. The set also features multi-standard TV reception, handling PAL, SECAM, and NTSC signals. It also has a data input, enabling it to display XGA, SVGA, and VGA multimedia presentations from PCs. As with all Philips TVs, the 32-inch Flat TV is very easy to install and use. A colorful and clear graphical user interface ensures simple setup and everyday operation. Other convenient features include the DualScreen, which enables viewers to watch either two channels side-by-side, or a page of Teletext alongside the broadcast picture. Furthermore, Philipsí Easy Text system, with its 1200-page memory, speeds up access to usersí preferred pages. A new remote control makes function selection easier. A complete picture or sound setting can be selected with a single touch. Tuning the TV is simple, as all available channels can be loaded by a single action. The Easy Text feature stores Teletext pages in its memory, giving almost instant access to the most-watched pages, as well as providing a convenient way of switching between sub-pages. The 32PF9964 32-inch Flat TV will be introduced in September. For more information about Philips Consumer Electronics, visit www.philipsusa.com.
