Philips introduces its new ultra-slim DVD-Video player, the DVD Q50. This stylish player is designed to appeal to consumers who want to combine superior digital video performance with outstanding design quality. The DVD Q50 has an ultra-slim format with a stylish silver design and jewelry detailing. The use of an aluminum front with glass insert creates a distinctive and elegant appearance that clearly places the DVD Q50 in the high-end segment. Next to its exceptional design, the DVD Q50 incorporates Philipsí latest picture improvement technology. Numerous picture enhancements are combined to create the premier home viewing experience. This package of state-of-the-art picture improvement features was first successfully introduced in Philipsí high-end TVs. The new Digital Crystal Clearô provides a unique combination of innovations that give the DVD Q50 a visibly clearer, purer, and sharper picture. Digital Crystal Clear includes 54 MHz/10-bit video processing that is capable of handling 4x video oversampling to preserve the finest details. In addition, it offers a set of advanced video picture adjustment settings like Chroma Luma delay to prevent bleeding of color, Gamma adjustments for better contrast, and DNR/Sharpness adjustments for sharply detailed and noise-free images. Digital Zoom with multiple zoom factors gives consumers a choice of viewing perspectives at the highest resolution, and a five-disc Resume function enables disc playback to be restarted at the same point after a pause or interruption. Other specific features incorporated in the Philips DVD Q50 include built-in DTSÆ and DolbyÆ Digital audio decoding, a dual-discrete laser pickup for optimum readout of DVD and CD discs, including CD-R and CD-RW discs, Smart Pictureô, and Smart Powerô On/Off. Philipsí parental control with an 80-disc memory is incorporated to allow parents to supervise childrenís viewing. A wide range of output connections allow the Philips DVD Q50 to be combined with all kinds of audio equipment, enabling it to form the basis of the most advanced home cinema systems.
