Goldmund introduced its second DVD transport, the Goldmund Eidos 38, a high-end DVD transport with exceptional CD playing sonic quality. The Eidos 38 benefits of Goldmundís long expertise in CD transport mechanical construction and its construction fully applies to the rules of the Goldmund Mechanical Groundingô principle. With a total weight of over 20 kg, with its complex chassis made of steel, brass and aluminum, a machined aluminum and Teflon drawer, a new type of DVD clamp machined to the micron, the precision of reading CDs and DVDs reaches summits never achieved before in any CD or DVD transport. In addition to its mechanical construction quality, the reading process of both CDs and DVDs is further enhanced by a new Goldmund device, called the Goldmund Magnetic Damperô, applying new physics principles never used before in any other DVD machine. The Eidos 38 provides S/PDIF output, as well as composite video, S-Video and component video outputs. An option panel will be used for future enhancements, such as the progressive scan output board or the digital video output circuit, which will allow the DVD-Video signal to be transferred to the projector or plasma panel without any conversion to analog. The Eidos 38 is considered accurate enough with CD playback to replace, in the Goldmund product line, the Mimesis 36 CD transport. Consequently, all CD transports in the Goldmund line are now discontinued and will be replaced by DVD/CD transports. For more information about Goldmund, visit www.goldmund.com.
