With the development of its Movie 10-MX home cinema system, Canton has added some new ""dimensions"" to home theatre, by increasing the sonic size and scope of the listening experience, and by reducing the size of the speakers needed to accomplish these effects. The compact Canton Movie 10-MX consists of five magnetically-shielded, two-way mini-speakers, and an active subwoofer rated at 100 watts. Canton's engineers have determined that the spatial qualities and fidelity of a home theatre system are related to the systems dynamic range, frequency response and the consistency of the tonal characteristics for all the satellite speakers. To achieve this, every satellite speaker produced is factory-tested to make sure its tonal characteristics are identical to those of the reference standard speaker. This, plus the use of properly integrated, high-quality drivers guarantees first-class spatial effects with Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS soundtracks. The satellites, which operate over a range of 100 to 25,000 Hz, have a driver compliment consisting of a 15-mm (1/2-inch) dome tweeter and a 80-mm (3-inch) woofer that crosses over at 5 kHz. The Movie 10-MX active subwoofer has an 200-mm (8-inch) woofer that operates in a bandpass enclosure. With the amplifier, it deliver high sound pressure levels down to 33 Hz. It has an 80-140 Hz variable crossover that can be adjusted to fine-tune the mid-bass levels in the listening room. The Canton Movie 10-MX is extremely compact. The satellite speakers measure just only 3.5 x 4.5 x 4 inches (WHD), and the subwoofer is 9-1/2 x 14-1/4 x 17 inches (WHD). The satellite speakers can be positioned at the optimum level throughout the room, or they can be hung on the wall with the included brackets. The complete Canton Movie 10-MX system is currently available in the U.S. with a suggested retail price of $899. For more information about this and other Canton products, visit www.cantonusa.com.
