Krell Industries, Inc. manufacturer of high-end audio and video equipment for music and home theatre systems, announced the introduction of the Showcase surround sound preamp/processor. The Showcase is Krell's most affordable preamp/processor, and now puts Krell technology and rugged build quality within reach of a new generation of buyers, people who value affordability in addition to performance. The product is designed with a heavy-gauge chassis called Architechô construction, and shares not only the new KAV Series cosmetics but also a new form factor -- now 17-1/4 inches wide, making it more compatible with rack systems. The Showcase features a rugged design, with many of its internal systems mounted on plug-in circuit boards. A preamp mode with an analog input pass-through is included. In this mode, any analog input can be sent directly to the output stage via the volume control, enabling the Krell Showcase to operate as an analog-only preamplifier when desired. Numerous operational and system interfaces have also been incorporated including RS-232, RC-5 baseband and 12V trigger interfaces. It is thus an ideal choice for integration into custom installations. A full complement of advanced performance features, including Krell Current Modeô, discrete Class A, direct-coupled circuitry with balanced outputs, user-configurable input assignment and system macros, and broadcast-quality video circuitry are integral to the Showcase's circuit topology. It includes complete processing for DolbyÆ Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, THXÆ Surround EXô and DTSÆ-ES 6.1 surround modes, and additionally provides nine Krell Music Surround modes. A new music mode -- ""Full Range + Sub"" -- enables enhanced bass reproduction for conventional stereo music listening. This unique synthesis of Krell performance at a previously unattainable price allows the Showcase to deliver an unprecedented level of value. The estimated retail price of the Showcase is $3,500, and shipments are expected to begin later this year to United States and worldwide markets. For more information about Krell, visit www.krellonline.com.
