API Announces New Energy Subwoofers

Replacing the critically acclaimed Energy FRx-S8 and FRx-S10, the new Energy S8.2 and S10.2 deliver more power, more features and better cosmetics than their predecessors. With new front-mounted controls and front bass venting, they provide a higher degree of placement flexibility in a consumer-friendly package. Performance improvements include lower distortion from the use of injection-molded polypropylene cones containing mica and glass spheres, higher power handling due to heavier magnet structures and 1- to 1.5-inch voice coils and higher overall output from efficiency and power improvements. As their names suggest, the S8.2 sports an 8-inch driver, the S10.2 a meaty 10-inch woofer. Amplifier power output is 100 and 150 watts, respectively.Additional features include bass level and low-pass filter controls, choice of Audio or Video equalization, auto on/off with all controls front-mounted for easy access, and input options to cover all possible choices for home theatre hookups.Frequency response specifications are 27-100 Hz for the S8.2, and 23-100 Hz for the S10.2.
