The new Point 5 system from athena TECHNOLOGIES? combines style, technology, and sound quality in a small, yet powerful home entertainment system that brings high performance and ease of setup to an ever-wider audience. Consisting of four magnetically-shielded S.5 speakers with built-in wall mounting brackets, a shielded C.5 center channel speaker and a P.5 powered subwoofer, the Point 5 system carries a suggested list price of only $800. Each part of the system can be separately purchased at the following suggested prices: S.5, $175 per pair, C.5, $175 each, P.5, $275 each. Matching stands are available for a suggested list price of $89.99 per pair.The S.5 is a 4-inch, two-way system with a 1-inch Teteron dome tweeter mounted in an MDF enclosure. For timbral matching, the C.5 center channel model features two of the same woofers flanking the same tweeter, again in an MDF wood cabinet. The P.5 powered subwoofer sports a down-firing, heavy-duty 8-inch woofer powered by a 75-watt MOSFET amplifier. As with the more expensive athena TECHNOLOGIES models, with which the Point 5 is timbrally matched, the magic of the concept is realized through the function of the SCT (System Creation Technology) concept. It involves a Mode selection switch located on the subwoofer. Select ""S.5"" on the P.5 sub and you?ve ""told"" it how to blend perfectly with the S.5 speakers. For those foolish enough to use non-athena models, the P.5 can be blended using in the typical ""trial and error"" method by deselecting ""S.5."" Available finishes for the S.5 and C.5 are numerous -- cherry with black baffle or high-gloss black with either black or silver baffle. Whatever the finish, these models possess a rich appearance, belying their modest price. The P.5 sub is finished in matte black, and flexibly featured for location almost anywhere in a room.
