PMC's (Professional Monitor Company, U.K.) on-going development program has generated the new MB2 series of loudspeakers. The line includes single and twin cabinet loudspeakers, available in both passive and active forms. Developments in transmission line technology, cabinet design, and construction techniques increase the MB2s system's performance significantly beyond its predecessor, the MB1. The MB2 series takes over as the choice for film sound facilities, broadcast studios, the world's leading music and mastering houses, and high-end home theatre.Higher SPLs with lower distortion, greater dynamic capacity, and increased detail are the benefits of active over passive designs. However, all units in the MB2 line feature a true frequency range from 20 Hz to 25 kHz, +/-3 dB, making the MB2 a potent performer. The MB2 active series features ultra-low distortion PMC/Bryston electronics, in which each drive unit is coupled directly to a totally independent power amplifier. The active crossover network allows a PMC engineer, armed with a sophisticated room analysis apparatus to tune the system, flawlessly matching the user's needs to the room acoustics. This combination of speaker and electronics produces the ultimate in reference monitoring. For those who want a taste of what the moviemakers actually hear at the time of recording, PMC created a matching horizontal center channel version of all the MB2 active and passive variants. For surround installations or when ""even more"" bass headroom is required, the XB2 subwoofer provides a perfectly-matched LFE channel that complements the MB2.The MB2XBD-A is a twin cabinet version of the MB2, which has over 1100 watts per channel. The MB2 includes a 12-inch radial bass driver, a 3-inch PMC soft dome midrange, and a 27mm silk dome tweeter (passive series) or 32mm silk dome tweeter (active series). For more information about PMC, visit www.pmcloudspeaker.com.
