Yamaha Introduces New High-End DVD Changer With DVD-Audio, MP3 Playback And Progressive-Scan Video Output

14-Jan-02

At the 2002 International CES, Yamaha debuted the DVD-C920, a new sleek high-end DVD changer. The DVD-C920 features intelligent progressive scan output and 3:2 pull-down conversion for smooth, artifact-free playback, via a unique one-chip solution. This eliminates two stages of D/A and A/D conversion, producing improved video quality by allowing the signal to remain in the digital domain until output. The DVD-C920's solid chassis design and large disc stabilizer provide superior tracking performance via a shock-proof 8 MB memory Performance features include a 4:4:4 progressive component video output, plus composite and S-video output, and optical and coaxial digital audio output terminals. Other highlights include 54 MHz video bandwidth, 10-bit video DAC (to ensure smooth, artifact-free forward and reverse DVD-scanning), dual lasers for compatibility with CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW/+RW discs, ability to play MP3 files on discs, Yamaha's patented PlayXchange technology (which allows four discs to be changed while one is playing), and Cinema Image and Cinema Dialog for optimized music viewing and listening. The DVD-C920 also offers a full complement of convenient user features, such as on-screen menus and icons, still picture, programmed and random playback, multi-angle/multi-aspect/multi-language/multi-subtitle capabilities, and extensive digital and analog output jacks for interconnectivity ease. The DVD-C920 has a suggested retail price of $599 and will be shipping in late February of 2002. For product and sales information, visit www.yamaha.com/yec.
