Sampo America Announces Affordable High Performance Plasma Video Monitors

Sampo America, a leading provider of advanced display technologies for consumer and business applications, made plasma display technology affordable through the announcement of their new line of full-featured, high performance plasma video monitors targeted at fulfilling the needs of professional video enthusiasts and consumers. Sampo's two new plasma video monitors incorporate a robust feature set designed specifically for the enthusiast and installer, including an enhanced calibration interface, advanced color calibration functions, discrete power and input controls, split-screen side-by-side picture, and dual high-definition component video inputs. ""This year's plasma video monitor solutions from Sampo reflect the integration of a host of new features designed to make the displays easier to use for the average consumer, while providing an increased level of calibration to suit the needs of professional video enthusiasts,"" explained Brian Ballard, Director of Sales for Sampo America. Sampo's high-performance PME-42X6 (1024 x 1024 pixels) and PME-42S6 (852 x 480 pixels) are fan-less, 42-inch widescreen video monitors incorporating Sampo's MotionDSCô Digital Processor, which provides adaptive motion deinterlacing for digital progressive line scaling. Both units offer a robust feature set including: discrete input calibration memory, selectable preset color temperature settings, advanced multi-window viewing, variable 4:3 image aspect ratios, discrete power on/off, dual high-definition component video inputs, built-in amplifier and speakers, and BBEÆ and SRSÆ surround sound processing. Connectivity options for both monitors include: composite, S-video, component video, DVI, RGB and audio. In addition, RS-232 and USB ports are provided for control purposes. An optional NTSC TV/CATV tuner module expands the monitors' capabilities to include television with convenience functions such as Closed Caption decoding, favorite channel programming, and channel lock/V-Chip. Sampo's plasma monitors are available through specialty audio/visual retailers and custom installers. Both the PME-42X6 and PME-42S6 will be available in the second quarter of 2002 at a list price of $5,999 for the PME-42X6 and $4,999 for the PME-42S6.
