Episode I Well, there were a few obstacles (I'll spare you the details), but our review of the new ""Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace"" DVD is finally posted. Also, some coverage of a recently attended ""Star Wars"" press event is posted for those interested. WSR also secured early copies of two of Columbia TriStar's five Superbit titles. Are they worth it? Read our reviews of ""Air Force One"" and ""The Fifth Element"" to find out. Well have reviews of the other three titles soon. The first five are due to hit stores on October 9. The titles are ""Air Force One,"" ""The Fifth Element,"" ""Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon;"" ""Desperado;"" and ""Johnny Mnemonic."" Due in December are ""Bram Stoker's Dracula,"" ""The Patriot,"" and ""Gattaca."" Summer Hits Two of the big summer hits have been announced for release on DVD: ""Jurassic Park III"" and ""Planet Of The Apes."" The third entry in the dino series will arrive on December 11 and will include anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) as well as Dolby Digital and DTS soundtrack options. Tim Burton's take on the 1968 classic arrives November 20, and will include anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1) and DTS and Dolby Digital soundtracks. Supplements for both will be posted in the next update. Anchor Bay Entertainment Chat A transcript (see first link below) of the recent Home Theater Forum chat with Anchor Bay Entertainment is now available. Studio Day For those of you who reside in the Southern California area (or are willing to travel) there will be another Studio Day event held at Dave's Video in Studio City on Saturday, September 29. The event will be held from 10:00 am ñ 3:00 pm. Bill Hunt will be moderating a panel of DVD producers similar to the panel held at the recent Comic Con convention. Also on hand will be several representatives from many of the movie studios enabling you, the DVD consumer, an opportunity to chat with them with your DVD concerns. Held in the Carpenter Center between October 4-7, this year's lineup includes a new dye transfer print of ""Funny Girl,"" ""Lawrence Of Arabia"" and a 20th anniversary screening of ""Raiders Of The Lost Ark.""
