NAD Introduces New High Performance DVD Player

6-Feb-02

NAD has expanded their affordable Theater Series with the T 562 DVD Player, featuring advanced progressive-scan with 3:2 pull-down and audio performance that sets new benchmarks for sound quality from DVD and CD formats. The T562 also supports playback of CD-R/CD-RW media and includes built-in MP3 decoding, capable of delivering more than ten hours of music from a single MP3-encoded CD-R. NAD is well-known for the audio quality of its products, and the T 562 uses a proprietary, custom-designed audio output stage, featuring selected audiophile grade components throughout. HDCDÆ decoding further improves the sound quality of the ever growing catalog of HDCD encoded CDs available today. Using the latest generation of MPEG decoding technology, digital artifacts are said to be absent from the T562's video outputs. The NAD uses 10-bit video DACs running at 54 MHz. The T 562's progressive-scan technology with 3:2 pull-down provides the best possible picture when using the latest high-end digital video monitors and projectors. For video displays without component video input, the S-video connection still offers superior video performance. The T 562 is a full-featured DVD player, offering three video connection options (composite video, S-video and component video), as well as three audio connection options (analog RCA jacks, coaxial and optical). The coaxial and optical digital outputs are selectable for 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz output, ensuring complete compatibility with current and future digital audio formats. Of course, it supports the DTSÆ surround sound format (external decoder required) as well as DolbyÆ Digital and PCM. The T 562 brings music playback of MP3 files to the proper music listening environment, the home sound system. More significantly, MP3 decoding is reproduced using the same DACs and associated circuitry for CD playback or two-channel mixdown of surround material. The sound quality is claimed to be far above what one would expect from an MP3 sound file. Besides superb performance, the NAD T 562 also offers a wide range of facilities such as Last Scene Bookmark, Multi-Angle, Multi-Sound, Multi-Subtitle, Frame, Zoom and Repeat. The Frame Advance feature advances the picture one frame at a time and the six-step Zoom function highlights and enlarges a particular area of the frame. All features are easily accessed with the supplied remote control. For home automation and custom-install purposes, the T 562 can be switched on and off remotely via the 12-volt trigger input. The NAD T 562 DVD Player will sell for a suggested retail price of $799 and will be available the first quarter of 2002. For more information about NAD, visit www.nadelectronics.com.
