Daewoo Electronics introduced at the 2002 CES a 60-inch rear-projection 16:9 HDTV monitor using LCD technology, the DSJ 6000LN.The DSJ 6000LN was one of two Daewoo Electronics products to be awarded the Innovations 2002 award for design and engineering, sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America. The other product was the DSP-4210GM 42-inch plasma display. Designed with a trio of interlocking parallel-mounted Epson 1.2-inch poly-Si TFT LCD panels, the DSJ-6000LN boasts a picture resolution of 2.76 million pixels. This widescreen monitor also offers a viewing angle of over 160 degrees, and technical flexibility with scan rates that range between VGA and SXGA. Input resolutions range from VGA to UXGA, and output is XGA (1200 x 1024).The 16:9 monitor measures an 60 diagonal inches, making it one of the industry's largest rear-projection displays. The LCD display delivers HDTV video in its native 720 progressive display format but offers an integrated standard-definition digital comb filter, so that it can scale to from 720p to 480p, or 1080i, giving users the flexibility to use source material in any HDTV format.The DSJ-6000LN delivers surround sound using DolbyĆ Pro Logic audio and an array of five internal speakers, (main left/right, tweeter left/right and center) and three external speakers (surround left/right and subwoofer).Multiple rear and side DTV inputs and outputs enable the DSJ-6000LN to be the centerpiece of any home theatre setup. The DSJ-6000LN accepts digital signals from any consumer PC via a 15-pin D-sub, located on the side for easy connection. Multiple video inputs include one DVD input (YPbPr) located in the rear, one DTV input (YPrPb) in the rear, three composite video inputs (two in the rear and one on the side), and three S Video inputs (two in the rear and one on the side). The DSJ 6000LN conceals its connections for composite and S-video output in the rear. The audio connectors, also accessible from the rear, include six inputs (three video and one each for DVD, DTV, and PC), one audio output for video and three audio outputs to the external speakers (surround, front left/right, and subwoofer).The stainless-steel-tinted DSJ-6000LN HDTV monitor boasts an integrated NTSC tuning system with 99-channel memory and four picture modes for playback of DTV content in 16:9, 4:3, Panorama, Zoom 1, and Zoom 2 formats. The DSJ-6000LN features an easy-to-navigate on-screen menu, controllable via finger-friendly Soft-Touch buttons on the unit's front panel or via infrared remote control. There is also a built-in caption feature, which enables viewing of video subtitles, and built-in V-Chip allows parental control over graphic content and extra peace of mind. The DSJ-6000LN is shipped in two parts -- the top half including the 60-inch LCD panel and the bottom half consisting of the base, speakers, and digital television hardware. It weights 125 pounds, and has a small footprint and slim depth, measuring 54.3 x 59.3 x 23.1 (WHD) inches.Two very quiet cooling fan motors are used that run at 35 dB.
