As the new single ìSomewhere In The Middleî from the forthcoming album OPALINE continues to gain momentum at radio, DISHWALLA has announced plans for an extensive U.S. tour. The group has confirmed a number of radio festivals and headlining shows and has also been invited to perform in Los Angeles at the Thursday, April 4 launch party for the new national music and entertainment publication Buzzine (DISHWALLA graces the cover of the debut issue) before heading out the next day to kick-off the tour in Las Vegas. ìSomewhere In The Middleî--from the Santa Barbara, CA bandís third album OPALINE, out April 23--is now being played on over 100 stations including AAA and rock (where the song was #1 and #2 most-added, respectively). The new single is described by RICHARDS as being about ìÖevery relationship Iíve ever been in. A lot of people have told me they can relate to it, and can see themselves in the same situations.î Other standouts on the albumóall of which were written by the group and produced by Gregg Wattenberg (Five For Fighting)óinclude ìAngels Or Devils,î ìHome,î ìCandleburnî and ìNashville Skyline.î With resonating guitars, wide-ranging keyboard sounds and the emotive voice of RICHARDS, the now proudly indie group deliver their reflections on fractured relationships, death, lust and hope amidst disappointments. For the tour, DISHWALLA will perform songs from each of their three albums (including 1996ís Pet Your Friends and 1998ís And You Think You Know What Lifeís About) as well as a few select covers, including a raucous version of Princeís ìDarling Nikki.î 'Gems', a collection of Dishwalla songs including 3 previously unreleased tracks, will be on sale exclusively at Dishwalla tour dates throughout the end of this year while supplies last. The limited edition CD includes the full acoustic version of Counting Blue Cars, Give live from Irving Plaza, NYC, and a demo version of a more recent song entitled The One along with other band favorites. Gems will also showcase previews of songs from the forthcoming album Opaline. The Dishwalla tour kicks off in Florida on Oct. 17 with dates confirmed through Nov. 10, 2001. More tour dates in the Western U.S. to be announced. April 23, 2002 marks a groundbreaking event for both Dishwalla and the DVD-Audio format with the simultaneous release of their forthcoming album 'Opaline' on both DVD-Audio and Compact Disc. The day and date release of both configurations marks a maturing of the DVD-Audio format. The fivesome--singer/songwriter JR RICHARDS; guitarist RODNEY BROWNING CRAVENS; bassist SCOT ALEXANDER; drummer PETE MALONEY; and keyboardist JIM WOOD--also recently completed work on a DVD which includes live and behind-the-scenes studio footage, group interviews, artist commentary, on-screen lyrics, 2 photo galleries, and the entire album mixed in 5.1 surround sound.
