CE Pro, the trade publication that covers the installation and integration of the connected home, has released its fifth annual custom residential integrators survey. The survey determines the largest integrators in the field, as determined by 2001 annual gross revenue in multi-system residential installations. Data compiled from the industry survey have provided encouraging news regarding the continued growth of the industry.Survey results, which will appear in the May 2002 issue of CE Pro magazine, rank the top 100 custom residential integrators. Among the most positive results of the survey was the 27 percent growth rate experienced by the top integrators, despite a year plagued by recession and terrorist attacks. The Top 100 survey also derived that the average system installation price rose 13 percent to $12,444 from last year's $11,031.Following is a summary of the survey's highlights: - The average size of a top 100 company is $5.6 million - The smallest company on the list billed $1.1 million in revenue - The largest company on the list billed $21 million in revenue - The Top 100 companies performed 32,815 installations in 2001 for a combined $408,361,441Custom audio and video installations continue to provide these installers with the majority of their revenues, combing to make up 43 percent of a large integrator's revenue. Home networks, home theatres/plasmas, whole-house automation, touch-screens, and Web pads were distinguished as the hottest growth technologies for 2002.The top integrator of 2001, as determined by CE Pro was Audio Command Systems, based in New York City, with $21 million in revenue.
