Music of Dupre, Franck, and Widor Michael Murray at St. Sulpice (SACD-60516) Michael Murray was the first solo artist to be recorded on the Telarc label. His earliest recording for Telarc founders Robert Woods and Jack Renner was an LP made in 1972, even before the two partners took on the Telarc name, in what was then considered to be a ground breaking format - quadraphonic stereo. The recording was made at Saint Meinrad and consisted of works by Cesar Franck. Now, thirty years later, Telarc and Murray are repeating history, with a brand new recording of French organ music, made in an historic venue with cutting-edge technology. Ray Brown/John Clayton/Christian McBride Superbass 2 (SACD-63483) Four years after the release of SuperBass (CD-83393), Telarc's groundbreaking live jam featuring veteran jazz bassist Ray Brown with colleagues John Clayton and Christian McBride, the three bassmasters reconvene in the equally innovative live summit, SuperBass 2. John Pizzarelli/The George Shearing Quintet The Rare Delight of You (SACD-63456) When a young lion of jazz comes face to face with an old master, the results can range from the adversarial to the inspired. But when guitarist/vocalist John Pizzarelli went into the studio with veteran pianist George Shearing last fall, rivalry and one-upmanship were nowhere in the program. On the contrary, the sessions resonated with mutual respect and admiration. All Telarc SACDs are hybrid discs, containing a layer with standard 16-bit information playable on traditional CD players. We currently have 24 titles available in six-channel SACD in classical, crossover, jazz and blues genres, and well over 30 titles available in two-channel SACD, including several from the original Soundstream masters.
