ADCOM has announced its latest product, the GFA-7700 multichannel home theatre power amplifier. It is rated to deliver 175 watts per channel x 5 channels into 8 ohms. The amplification stages feature new high-power output transistors, dual-differential input stages, Class A Driver Stages, multi-layer FR-4 glass-epoxy circuit boards, and precision-grade parts tolerance. The power supply delivers to five discrete monaural channels from individual transformer secondary windings through isolated rectification, regulation, DC rails, and supply capacitance. The toroidal transformer is oversized, and transistors are closely matched to within 5 percent.Additional features include 12-volt on/off trigger, DB25 multichannel input, printed circuit board-mount gold RCA inputs and five-way binding post connections, and individual channel indicators for overload and distortion alert. The GFA-7700 measures 17 x 7-3/8 x 15 inches (WHD) and weighs 56 pounds. Rack-mountable Adcom RM-7 adapters are optionally available. The GFA-7700 is available as of July at a suggested retail price of $1,500.
