ATSC Web Site Offers Answers To Many DTV Questions

24-Jul-02

The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) has created two new valuable Web-based resources to answer questions and facilitate the rollout of DTV services. ""We saw a need to explain the functions and relationships of the various standards that are available to implement DTV,"" explained Art Allison of NAB and chair of the ATSC Implementation Subcommittee. The ""Guide To DTV Standards"" (www.atsc.org/guide_default.html) is a comprehensive listing of DTV-related standards published by ATSC, SMPTE, CEA, SCTE, and AES, which places the various standards in context and guides readers through the DTV program stream -- from production to reception, beginning with an overview and then identifying specific standards for particular functions. In addition to the guide, the Implementation Subcommittee (IS) and ATSC Technical Director Jerry Whitaker also spearheaded the compilation of an exhaustive series of questions and answers in a new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Web site section (www.atsc.org/faq_default.html).
