Furman Sound Introduces Reference Series Power Regulators And Conditioners At CEDIA EXPO 2002

31-Jul-02

Furman Sound, Inc. is introducing the Reference Series of power regulators and conditioners at CEDIA EXPO 2002 (booth 224). The line includes the IT-Reference Discrete Symmetrical AC Power Source, the RA-1210 and 1220 Stable Power AC Line Voltage Regulator, and the RI-1210 and 1220 Isolated Symmetrical AC Power Conditioner. ""CEDIA is a key show for the global custom electronic design and installation industry,"" says Joe Desmond, Vice President of Marketing for Furman Sound. ""The introduction of the Reference Series products signals our commitment to developing high-quality products that solve problems for designers and installers. Home theatre systems are becoming more and more popular, with the increasing availability of large-format NTSC TVs, the new HDTV programming coming online, and the incredible penetration of DVD and surround sound systems in the home. Our power conditioners address the need to clean up supply electricity to enhance performance and safeguard components."" IT-Reference Discrete Symmetrical AC Power Source The flagship IT-Reference Discrete Symmetrical AC Power Source delivers ultra-low noise AC power for the audiophile/videophile. It is compatible with all analog and digital audio/video components, typically providing a 24 dB or greater reduction of AC line-induced noise. The unit offers four individually isolated, electrostatically shielded, symmetrical power banks for components consuming low to intermediate power, eliminating digital noise and power supply ""backwash"" from neighboring components' high-current power amplifiers. Powered subwoofers are supplied separately via a power reservoir bank with ultra-low impedance, filtered, non-symmetrical AC. The symmetrical power banks offer +60 VAC line and -60 VAC with opposing polarity, rather than +120 VAC line and DVAC Neutral. This symmetrical balancing of AC power virtually eliminates common-mode line noise. The IT-Reference employs a refined toroidal transformer that features extremely low magnetic field leakage. Each symmetrical bank features ground fault (GFCI) protection, with the unit rated at 12 amps continuous power with a peak of 20 amps maximum combined from all outlets. An integrated power correction circuit provides protection from spikes and surges, and limits transverse mode noise suppression at critical audio frequencies. The unit weighs 80 pounds, and offers optional rack-mounting ""ears."" Reference Series RA-1210 And RA-1220 The Reference Series Stable Power AC Line Voltage Regulator delivers a stable 120 VAC (+/-1.5 volts) with incoming voltage between 114 V and 126 V to ensure optimal performance of the most demanding power amplifiers and powered subwoofers. The RA-1210 and RA-1220 each handle 10 amps and 20 amps of power, respectively, with a true RMS AC voltage and current meter. The units feature extreme voltage shutdown and LED indicator. The RA-1210 and RA-1220 feature a premium-quality magnetic circuit breaker with high in-rush tolerance, six banks of ultra-low resistance Super Spec AC outlets with additional filtering for digital outlets, and 800 V peak, 250-amp capable active voltage switching devices. The RA-1210 weighs 32 pounds, and the RA-1220 weighs 35 pounds. Reference Series RI-1210 And RI-1220 The Reference Series Isolated Symmetrical AC Power Conditioner, the sibling of the RA Reference Series products, is available in the RI-1210 10-amp model and the RI-1220 20-amp model. The RI Series typically reduces common mode and transverse line noise up to 24 dB per total system. The back panel features all-isolated symmetrical (balanced) AC receptacles that are individually ground fault (GCFI)-protected. Each unit includes four sets of Super Spec AC receptacles with additional filtering for digital components on two of the outlet banks. The units feature a toroidal transformer yielding extremely low magnetic field leakage, and ultra-low noise DC tolerant technology. Each unit offers transverse and common mode noise attenuation greater than 60 dB from 1 to 200 MHz. The RI-1210 weighs 43 pounds, and the RI-1220 weighs 71 pounds.
