June Audio Sales Post Gains Across The Board

28-Aug-02

Manufacturer-to-dealer sales of audio products increased by nearly eight percent for the month of June, according to figures released by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). Total sales for the month reached more than $726 million with individual gains in every category. Factory-to-dealer sales of separate audio components totaled nearly $131 million during June, an increase of 10 percent, compared to the same period in 2001. Sales of audio systems also rose by eight percent for the month to $184 million. Increasing dollar amounts by seven percent, portable audio products totaled more than $208 million in manufacturer-to-dealer sales. ""The increases in aftermarket autosound and separate component sales are evidence that consumers want to get the most out of their entertainment experience, regardless of location,"" said Sean Wargo, Senior Industry Analyst for CEA. ""Because both autosound and components, such as home theatre products, offer the flexibility to be purchased individually, consumers see them as an incredible value."" Wargo continued, ""In addition, the new digital technologies incorporated in audio products enable consumers to enjoy richer and fuller sound. The improved quality coupled with the flexibility of purchase creates a real value for consumers.""
