Faroudja, a division of Genesis Microchip, Inc. (NASDAQ: GNSS), showcased its new Faroudja Digital Projector (FDP) Package at CEDIA EXPO 2002. The FDP Package contains an optimized and aligned 1365 x 1024 D-ILAÆ projector, a Faroudja-customized anamorphic lens, a custom ""hush box"" for soundproofing, and either a Digital Cinema Source (NRS-DCS) Processor or a Native Rate Series (NRS) Processor. Each projector is individually aligned and optimized for use with either the NRS-DCS or NRS Processor by William Phelps, known throughout the high-end theater community for his proprietary software and set-up techniques. These include adjustments for gamma, gain, bias, black level, shading, and pixel shift. The firmware design is also modified to simplify operation with the Faroudja processor. The custom anamorphic lens supplied in the package takes full advantage of the resolution and light output of the D-ILA light engine while preserving the original widescreen format. The scaler inside the NRS-DCS or NRS Processor can digitally map any non-anamorphic software to display the proper aspect ratio.Faroudja has designed a ""hush box"" to house the projector, reducing ambient noise from the fan.The Digital Projector Package includes either an NRS-DCS Processor or a NRS Processor. NRS-DCS Processors include an internal high-performance DVD transport, making it possible to send a digital video signal straight to the video processing stage. The Faroudja Digital Projector Package is available from Faroudja dealers at a suggested retail price of $41,000 with the NRS-DCS Processor, or $36,000 with the NRS Processor. For more information, visit www.faroudja.com.
