1-Nov-02

Yamaha Electronics Corporation has introduced LPX-500, an LCD projector that offers 16:9 HDTV compatibility. The LPX-500 features three 1280 x 720 LCD panels and linear color balancing for the three LCDs, as well as 3:2 pulldown and Faroudja DCDi video processing. The incorporation of Yamaha's ""Natural Black"" processing is said to yield in an 800:1 contrast ratio. A 150-watt UHP lamp with a rated 3,000-hour life is claimed to produce 800 ANSI lumens of brightness. Yamaha says that the LPX-500 case has been specially designed to prevent light leakage. To cool the projector, the LPX-500 has dual Scirocco fans that run at a noise level of 30 dB. The LPX-500 features a short-throw lens, so users can set it very close to the screen. At just over 8 feet from the screen, the projector can display a 80-inch screen image with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The LPX-500 also has a 1.35x zoom mode, as well as digital keystone correction. The projector features component, composite, S-video, and DVI input. The LPX-500 also has an RS-232 serial port for control, as well as a 12-volt trigger. The LPX-500 has an estimated street price of $5,500. For more information about Yamaha Electronics Corporation, visit www.yamaha.com/yec.
